The Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala is one of the few Hindu temples in India that is release to all faiths. Now, the importance is on secularism and communal harmony. Sabarimala supports the values of equality, fraternity and also the unity of the human soul; all men, irrespective of class, faith or race are equivalent before Lord Ayyappan and apparently, to impel home this truth, the pilgrims thronging the temple complex address one another as ‘Ayyappa Swami.’ Legend has it that the Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala is laid out in accordance with the directions of the Lord himself.
